CCI of Russia is ready to support the restoration of business ties between Russia and the Republic of Sudan

Vice-President of the CCI of Russia Vladimir Padalko held a special meeting on the development of Russian-Sudanese business cooperation. The event was attended by Chairman of the Russian-Sudanese Business Council (RSuBC) Viktor Chemodanov, Deputy Chairman of the RSuBC Nasser Mustafa Mohammed and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in Moscow Onur Ahmed Onur.

Vladimir Padalko spoke about the history, activities and development prospects of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. He named as one of the main tasks of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia the maximum support of Russian business in contacts with the world business community, lobbying the interests of entrepreneurs at all levels of government and the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. This applies to all categories of business - large, medium and small.

Turning directly to the issue of cooperation with the Republic of Sudan, Vladimir Padalko noted that, despite the internal Sudanese political crisis, negotiations on the implementation of a number of promising projects in Sudan with the participation of Russian economic operators are beginning to resume. Prospects have emerged for increasing interaction, including through the promotion of domestic industrial products (excavators, automobile, railway and aviation equipment) as well as the implementation of projects for the modernization and reconstruction of transport infrastructure and granaries. The energy sector plays an important role in economic cooperation.

This topic was continued by the Chairman of the RSuBC Viktor Chemodanov. He said that in February this year the Ministry of Energy of Russia received a request from the Ministry of Energy and Oil of the Republic of Sudan for the supply of mobile gas turbine power plants (mobile gas turbine power plants), necessary to temporarily resolve the issue of shortage of generating capacities in a number of cities of the country. To date, the Ministry of Energy of Russia has sent a response to the Sudanese side, in which it announced that the project for the supply and commissioning of such stations to the Republic of Sudan is under consideration, as well as the elaboration of delivery details and implementation conditions. In addition, the department assured that Russia is fully familiar with all the key energy projects planned in the Republic of Sudan.

Viktor Chemodanov outlined other priority areas of the proposed cooperation, such as agriculture, the development of telecommunication technologies, mining, and healthcare.

Deputy Chairman of the RSuBC Nasser Mustafa Mohammed thanked the Russian side for the opportunity to discuss ways of developing business cooperation. Sudan is traditionally an important market for Russian companies in the field of gold and oil and gas production and wheat supplies. In addition, the representative of Sudan proposed to discuss in more detail the issues of cooperation in the banking sector.

Summing up the results, Vladimir Padalko stressed that for the development of Russian-Sudanese cooperation, it is necessary to hold online meetings and conferences between business representatives of the two countries. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation has a good resource base and can act as a platform for negotiations. With the development of direct interactions and regular communication, the exchange of information in a variety of areas will significantly accelerate. He also proposed to hold an online conference in April this year, where Sudanese businessmen can talk about their business.
