On December 23, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia hosted a meeting between the vice-president of the CCI RF Vladimir Padalko and the new president of the Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (NRCC) Hans Christian Dall Nygard.
Opening the meeting, Vladimir Padalko congratulated the Norwegian guest on his election to a high post and noted that the NRCC has been one of the most active foreign partners of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia for more than 15 years, and both chambers occupy a special place in the system of bilateral economic relations, since they are organizers of almost all business events held on the subject of cooperation between Russia and Norway.
He highly appreciated the efforts of the NRCC to actively expand cooperation in the field of shipbuilding and aquaculture, agreeing that these two areas are the most promising for cooperation between Russian and Norwegian entrepreneurs, given the large-scale tasks of modernizing the Russian fishing fleet and increasing the production of farmed fish in Russia.
At the same time, according to Vladimir Padalko, both chambers should conduct a more active search for new areas of economic cooperation. Among them may be, for example, energy saving, "green technologies", the topic of the implementation of national projects in relation to the Arctic. In addition, he proposed expanding the geography of cooperation, extending it from the traditional Norwegian business of the North-West of Russia to other regions, in particular, the central ones, such as Lipetsk, Kaluga, Tula.
Hans Christian Dall Nygård agreed with the proposal of the vice-president of the RF CCI, noting that due to his extensive experience in the Russian investment and financial market, he is well acquainted with the Russian regions and knows about their serious potential for bilateral economic cooperation. He thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia for the continued active support of the activities of the NRCC, thanks to which the chamber, according to the Norwegian government, has managed to become the leading instrument of bilateral business dialogue.
The parties also discussed the issue of the timing and venue of the next 7th Russian-Norwegian Business Forum - the central event in bilateral business relations, which is held every two years alternately in Russia and Norway. The forum could not be organized in October this year in Oslo due to the pandemic, and therefore an agreement was reached to return to this topic in March, when the epidemiological situation becomes clearer.
